We have had lots of nice comments on our yard this year so I took a couple pictures




And, I took a hike today up Bell Canyon:

Bell Canyon Creek

Bell Canyon Falls: this is about a 3 mile hike with about a 1500 feet elevation change. It is fairly rugged - steep, and the trail is mostly rocks about a mile after you leave the lower reservoir. These falls are large, about 30 feet across and 150 feet high. You may have heard earlier this spring about the young couple (first date) who tried to cross the stream above the falls - they were running VERY high. He jumped across on some rocks, she tried, fell in, he grabbed her and she pulled him in. They both went over the falls. Somehow he survived (when you look at the falls I don't know how). She did not; they did not find her for 3 days - she had been pushed downstream and eventually they found her caught under a log. Sad - but the falls are beautiful.

Cliffs above the Bell Canyon Falls. You can also climb to upper Bells Canyon Reservoir, but it is an additional several miles AND about 3000 feet higher (9650 feet elevation).

Larsons At Aspen Grove - July 3-9, 2010

The Father's Day posting is getting a little dated so I decided to post something a little more current. I know that several of the family members have posted pictures on their blogs of our Aspen Grove experience but none of you have posted these (since they are on my camera!). And, none of the family were there to take my picture when I was up at Emerald Lake - I had to have a stranger that that one. So, here is a sampling of some of the pictures I took of this great and happy clan.

So, as you can see, except for the little matter of the virus that was harbored by Aspen Grove that went through 17 of our 34 families members (plus a few more after they got home) and ruined several days of our gathering (especially for the Moms who were taking care of the sick little ones), you can see that a good time was had by all.

We love you Dad. Have a great day! Now I've only ever had one dad, so I can't be 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure you're the best dad there ever was. Thanks for being our dad.

zoe anne! the boys call her annie but we decided not to go with that name, so we gave her the middle name so the nickname "annie" would fit a little. dad thinks we're crazy for spelling it zoe instead of "zoey" but if dwyane wade's parents call him "dwayne" and put the "y" in front of the "a", we can spell our baby girl's name zoe if we want.

Larson History

I have been locating/reviewing lots of photographs for our family as I put together the Larson History Book that will capture a summary of the life stories of the Lloyd and Effie Larson posterity. So this little series gives you a little pictoral history of the David Larson family over the last 49 years or so, and shows how we evolved to become the Larson clan shown above in our "big" family picture on this blog.

1961 (pre-mission): Carma and I in the Olsen front yard in Murtaugh

August 29, 1963 (6 months after mission)

W. Lafayette, IN (Purdue) in January 1972. It was 22 degrees below zero, colder than we had ever experienced in Idaho or Utah, so we took the kids outside and took a picture. Delos is 4 months old, Alice is 4 (Peggy must have taken the picture since she's not in it)

Fall, 1972 back in Albuquerque (Peggy is 14, Alice is almost 5, Delos is 1) Don't you love those big black horned-rim glasses!





1980, Emily is a few months old, James is 3, Ellen is 4, Sara is 7, Delos is 9, Alice is 12 (Peggy is now 22, has gone to BYU for a semester and is working in Salt Lake City)

About 1984 and Sara and Ellen are "Starz"
