Well, school started yesterday and this is a picture of Hannah yesterday morning on her first day of FIRST GRADE. My favorite part of the picture is the glow-in-the-dark reflective strips on her backpack that lit up in the flash! She had to be at her old school (Marek) by 7:15 to catch the bus to take her to her new school (Passmore) which starts at 8:00. The bus driver told CJ that she would get dropped off at Marek after school at 3:10 but she didn't get there until close to 4. When she climbed in the van, she was blinking back tears. I don't know if it was just overwhelming or too long of a first day back after summer or what but it was breaking my heart. She's loving the bus though and is happy to have a friend from our ward in her class. And she was impressing us at dinner last night with all the Spanish words she learned. She's going to do great!

my favorite part is that it's still DARK OUTSIDE. yikes. what was she sad about? did you ask her? that breaks my heart!
I practically cry just thinking about it.
Yeah, I asked her when we got home and she didn't say much. She told me "Rachel knows why" and then told me she sat alone on the bus ride home (it's a full-size regular bus and there's only her and two other kids on it - a brother and sister from our ward - so no wonder she was sitting alone.) Anyway, I think she was just really tired and worn out and maybe relieved to finally be going home. It had been 9 hours since she had left home in the morning and she's just not used to that yet. It was really sad though - I was so sad when she left yesterday and I kept tearing up on Sunday thinking about her going and when CJ gave her a back-to-school blessing. After all summer with her at home, I start to think how nice it will be to have her at school and then once it starts it seems hard to let her go - it's such a long day and she's still a little kid. It's just hard
it is a VERY long day, and she has to get up and leave so early and then gets home so late. that would be so hard on ME, can't imagine your poor 6 year old. but she's going to be SO smart for it. why didn't she go sit by those other kids?
9 hours...that's alot for a 6 year old. Caleb starts all day kindergarten tomorrow. Wish us luck!
